This will be followed by a speech by Luca Menesi, member of the European Committee of the Regions, who will make an in-depth contribution on the role of European institutions as safeguards for dialogue, cooperation and peace. The initiative was presented this morning (May 5) with a press conference at the municipal headquarters, attended by the Councilor for Culture, Claudia Berti, President of the Giacomo Puccini APS Segromigno Philharmonic in Monte, Andrea Petretti and Luca Menesini, as members of the European Committee linked from Brussels.

With a musical program conceived as a symbolic journey to the different cultural identities of the continent, the concert presented in cooperation with the Observatory of Peace and Rights intends to present Europe not as an abstract reality, but as a living place where different traditions, histories and languages meet. A Europe that finds its strength in recognized and shared diversity, as the slogan “Varietate concordia” suggests. Special emphasis is placed on the involvement of young people, who are called not only as representatives of the public, but also as privileged recipients of the initiative’s message. The presence of the voices of children and students from local schools acquires a deep symbolic value: educating new generations in a culture of peace and integration means making a concrete investment in the future of Europe, realizing the importance of European institutions for the protection of the rights and opportunities of young people.

“Concert for Europe is proposed not only as a musical event, but also as a wider cultural initiative capable of uniting institutions, communities and young people around an important message: Europe is and must continue to be a place of dialogue, cooperation and rejection of war, – declares the cultural advisor Claudia Berti -. A message of fundamental importance in historical moments and international conflicts. Abuses that call into question the fundamental values of civil coexistence are due to the organization of this concert by the Monte Philharmonic I thank Segromigno.”

“The role of Europe is even more important today, because at a time marked by wars and conflicts in different parts of the world, it strongly promotes the values of equality, solidarity, peace and unity between peoples,” says Luca Menesini, a member of the European Committee of the Regions. In addition, in recent years, thanks to European funds, many important works have been done to improve the various interests of the citizens of Europe. I have undertaken to bring their needs to Europe.

“The members of the Philharmonic are mainly young people, and as a cultural association all our efforts are aimed at young people, – explains Andrea Petretti, president of the Filarmonica Giacomo Puccini APS of Segromigno in Monte. Educating new generations about music also means educating them on positive values. Let’s organize this night where music becomes a tool for dialogue, integration and European education”.
