SAT session on mountain weather tonight

Tonight, Friday 8 May, at 20.45 at the Alto Garda and Ledro Community Hall in Riva del Garda, there will be a meeting with meteorology popularizer Giacomo Poletti entitled “Workers’ weather: what will the weather be like? Learn how to really understand it”.

Organized by the SAT section of Riva del Garda as part of the Centenary initiatives, the evening is designed to go beyond “fast” forecasts and learn to navigate among the many available information: from the official bulletins of the institutional bodies – Trentino, Meteo Trentino – to the tools most used by those who frequent the mountains.

Giacomo Poletti anticipates this: “We will first learn to read the weather bulletins of the institutional, regional and provincial authorities, since they are the ones that produce them by law in Italy. Here are the different offices of Meteo Trentino, Lombardy or Valle d’Aosta, or ARPA. We will talk about zero temperatures, bulletins: all the information that can be found on the Internet, but often not really known, and we will also touch on the topic of probabilistic forecasts, which are often used during storms: a different way to read forecasts compared to deterministic method.

The goal is to acquire the tools to read predictions with greater awareness and independence. Because the weather in the mountains is not a detail: knowing how to interpret it means making better choices, moving with caution and living the experience more safely.

The cycle of “Being aware in the mountains” will then continue on Saturday 16 May at 14.00 at the Falesia Family di San Martino – Arco with an open-air “Climbing Game” event open to all to get closer to the vertical world.

A practical and engaging opportunity to familiarize yourself with materials, learn basic techniques and experience climbing in a safe context accompanied by those who live and know the mountains. The activity is open to both those approaching for the first time and those who want to strengthen their skills.

Two different but complementary events that express well the spirit of SAT Riva del Garda’s Centenary: not only to celebrate a hundred years of history, but also to continue building a mountain culture of knowledge, experience and awareness.
