Mediterranean Tourism Forum: Marialina Marcucci awarded

Held from 25 to 27 November at the Hilton Malta, the Mediterranean Tourism Forum is an event celebrating the cultural heritage and tourism innovation of the Mediterranean, with over 1,500 delegates from 28 countries participating.

This year’s edition features two Italian faces: Marialina Marcucci, President of the Viareggio Carnival, and Pietro Angelini, CEO of NAVIGO.

Marialina Marcucci received the prestigious Mediterranean Tourism Award for her extraordinary contribution to the promotion of Mediterranean culture. The award was presented by the President of the Republic of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono at the gala ceremony held in Intercontinental Malta on November 26. The night ended with a concert by the Mediterranean Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Santorini, with a set of musical sounds and Mediterranean instruments.

Pietro Angelini instead spoke about an important topic for the future of Mediterranean tourism: yachting as a means to strengthen the attractiveness of coastal destinations. His session explored “Yachting Destination: Innovations and Opportunities for Mediterranean Tourism”, sustainable development strategies, international marketing and the economic potential of the maritime industry.

The theme of this edition of the forum, “Mediterranean ARTS – Amidst Rapid Transformational Change”, highlights how the Mediterranean can address global challenges, from the green transition to technological and social transformations
