Heart diseases or a group of cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of human death. But there are many myths about heart disease.
With the help of the head of the cardiology department, cardiologist Anna Fomenko, the Volgograd regional health center tried to dispel the most common myths about heart diseases. Here’s what a doctor says about heart disease.
First. A heart attack is not always manifested by chest pain and a feeling of shortness of breath. Doctor Fomenko notes: the pain will be not in the chest, but in the back, stomach and even the jaw.
Second. If you have heart disease, you should not stop exercising. The only thing you need to remember when exercising or going to the pool is “everything is fine in moderation.” However, you should consult your doctor so that physical activity can benefit you. It is he who determines and selects a set of individual exercises.
the third. Arterial hypertension is not called the “silent killer” without reason. The fact is that the disease does not manifest itself in any way. You should control your cholesterol and blood pressure to avoid irreversible consequences and not to miss the disease. This can be done by doing a biochemical blood test for cholesterol and measuring your blood pressure.
The fourth. Cholesterol enters the blood not only from food. It is produced by the liver. Therefore, contrary to what many people think, you should not eat a lot of fatty foods. If you continue to consume large amounts of “bad fat,” the statins prescribed by your doctor simply won’t cut it, and your cholesterol levels will continue to rise. And this is a risk to life.
The fifth. The risk of cardiovascular pathologies occurs at the age of 50+. But in recent years, cardiovascular diseases have dramatically increased. Also, obesity, type II diabetes and atherosclerosis are “rejuvenated” by heart attacks.
